Development of music industry in Thailand and the effect from Covid-19 pandemic
The history of new wave music in Thailand
Thailand, the Land of Smiles is additionally known for its catchy, entertaining, and modern indie pop. From rock and indie to bounce pop, the last century has shown an influx of creative Thai musicians and singers who focus heavily on a large kind of American and European genres and bands, including British rockers, 1980s synthpop outfits, iridescent death metal bands, and electro-disco artists.—yet with a novel sensibility and, in most cases, native tongue lyrics.
Tourists and locals both must hear these sounds at live venues, concerts, and activities in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Phetchaburi, Hua-Hin, and other cities and islands throughout the state. For example, you’ll be able to pay attention to all these bands’ videos and albums from their own country, while these single artists’ or bands’ videos and albums are often available today on YouTube, iTunes, Spotify, and other digital listening platforms.
How can social platforms change the environment of the music business and music society in Thailand?
Social platforms include Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, Tumblr, Instagram, and etc. These applications having many affected to the music business and music society. Why? Because in society nowadays the world is running after the rumors and the trends that appear on the internet. These applications are making people can access the information quicker and easier. For example, social platforms changed the music industries in the way of giving chance to new face artist. How? New artist who still not have reputation and light. Social media makes many of new artists become a superstar. Such as, Laika, Dept, Yented and many more.
The more famous artist in music industries means the more competition in the music industries. The Entertainment industries not have the place for everyone to shine. Therefore, the competition through these social platforms is changed the music society and business.
Another example, when people going to somewhere or watching any movies, they may hear the music or the lyrics that touched their heart from the public place. In this case I have to mention “Shazam”. Shazam is another tool that made listeners expand their music tease. Just let the application listen to the music that was opened in public, Shazam will find the similar song that it heard.
Spotify and Apple Music’s growth reflect a change in user preferences for music anytime and anywhere they want it. These Platforms such as YouTube Music, Soundcloud, Pandora, and Tidal are still commonly used, and you might claim that since digital services platform have become so ubiquitous and also the big parts of life, they would now be countermined by use-cases such as the vast library, individual artist exploration, passive listening, or improved audio quality. One feature these networks have in general is their algorithmic roots, which use computer vision to assess their consumers’ music tastes and listening habits.
We’ve reached a new world of music exploration as a result of this, as well as the apps’ optimization and prioritization. The leading streaming services have done an excellent job of supplying their customers with the musical they need across several customized, selected, and promoted music tracks.
Should the artists needed to adapt themselves to fit in the present music society? / Which is the solution to survive from the development?
Throughout 2019, several similarities emerged in how artists responded to the changing working environment surrounding themselves. While most of the musicians had endured setbacks as a result of sales, missed performances, and postponed events, while they were also preparing ways to innovate, transfer their careers online, or making the news masterpieces.
In the first opinion of mine, the development in music industries is not that scary. Music industries is running to the better path that mean Artist (singers, songwriter, musicians, producers) have the duty to create their news art in the new path but still have their signatures on it. Development in music industries has made more choices to consumers and listeners. Everyone has their own tease. Therefore, people who work in the industries have to invent new path to respond consumer needed.
Another point, even though the more experience that artists have, the more their arts growing up. I believe that every artist like to make the news music that they can proudly to call their masterpieces and I also believe that in each single of there album they love it all and put many attentions to in before release. The opinion of the commentator or music’s critic is not important that much, the fans opinion and support are what artists have to pay attention on.
In conclusion, the solution to survive from the development of music industries is there have to put their signature and heart on the arts that they are going to create and release in the future. The arts have to unique and showing the reminders of the singer, fulfill of meaning, melody is easy to remember. Moreover, artists have to take care and pay attention for their fans to gain trust and supporting in the future.
The coming back of traditional music record in the new era
Someone once said, “The trends are looping and don’t go anywhere,” referring to music. Today’s pop music trend is popular; tomorrow could be rap music day. Who knows? The variety of music available to people increased dramatically mostly during the twentieth century.
Through the ubiquitous distribution of vinyl record recordings, cassette tape, CD, or radio broadcasts, audiences may buy copies of, or listen to the music on broadcasts of, a wide assortment of lyrics and musical elements from artists around the world. This allowed a much larger portion of the population to focus on concerts of classical music orchestral works and operas that they would not have been able to see and hear live, whether since they could not afford live-concert tickets or because the certain musical was not played in the area.
Voice recording had a significant impact on the evolution of musical styles although it allowed recordings of singles and bands to be distributed cheaply and widely throughout the country or, in the case of a few musicians, singers, producers, globally. the occurrence of fairly affordable musical replication from a range of categories such as vinyl albums, compact cassettes, and compact discs, as a result, the coming back of traditional music is on the way, but we don’t know when it will happen.
The prediction of the music industry in 2021 and year to come
After the Pandemic, the future will be gleaming and beautiful. Creative thinking creates creativity, and there is no lack of that in the music industry. Even after all of the difficulties, the last year has presented, the sector has shown incredible strength. There is nothing that people can’t do to help keep industries and music alive, such as live streaming, drive-in concerts, fundraiser events, and even lobbying legislators. Music is not going anywhere. It will only be a matter of time before we return to the unforgettable experience of seeing it live and individually.
Returning to performing live events on a regular and subsequent stimulus would certainly be a long process. There would not be a specific moment in time where the pandemic could be turned off and then we will resume normal operations.
For instance, there is an explosion of artists who are ready to return to the stage. Most musicians depend heavily on live shows to augment their profits. When it is ready to perform live again, a surge of performers would call producers to book them.
Furthermore, there would be less appetite for shows this year from venues or fans. That isn’t to suggest that people would not like to watch live music as much as the way they’re supposed to. Show tickets are also in high demand. It can, though, take a little time before everything is relaxed meeting in big groups again. Relatively small ability displays can become the standard for a long time.
Furthermore, there will be fewer events and fewer venues hosting shows. While things gradually begin to increase, concert producers must handle shifting national policies as well as live performance demand in their local market. Both considerations would find it impossible to get the same number of shows as in previous years. There’ll be also fewer places around the world. There would also be fewer venues around the region as a result of some companies being required to shutter indefinitely this year. Both of these, combined with the reality which musicians and managers are demanding concert date holds several months ahead of time, assumes that there would be a lack of upcoming shows in the year.
The final reason we believe the capacity balance would favor talent owners and producers this year will be the cost director equation. A better amount with music events would reward all and involves all players in the cost and benefit. Deals often provide high assurances for visiting musicians, with the promoter bearing a disproportionately large amount of danger. The pandemic has demonstrated how dangerous this industry is, including numerous shows and events having to cancel plans. Postponements like this one can result in severe losses, particularly for demonstrators. The business must acknowledge the enormous risks that entrepreneurs are taking this year. As a consequence, transactions can be rigged in favor of ability investors. People who have made it through the whole year would be compensated with historically high creativity rates.
New Indie Agencies & Promoters
Another effect of the pandemic is now all of the sequestration and work cuts in the industry’s major businesses. This year, almost every big organization and production company was pressured to slash budgets and employees. Mostly as a response, more talented people who have been laid off from career paths would establish their own companies.
After all the only thing that people who involved in the industries could do is that “pray for a better future path”
