Neo Culture Technology, otherwise known as NCT, is a South Korean boy-group under the agency S.M. Entertainment. NCT goes by a new and unique concept as there is no limit regarding the number of members, and it is open to new recruits. NCT being the term that refers to the members as a whole, members split up into a variety of sub-units to promote. Each unit has a very specific concept and members are assigned to these sub-units based on whether they fit the concept criteria.

NCT currently consists of 23 members which are separated into 4 units : NCTU, NCT127, NCT dream, and Wayv. They also have a fan club name that is Nctzen and the official color of the band is Pearl Neo Champagne.

The first unit of NCT. It is a rotational unit, meaning that members can be swapped out depending on the concept of the song. NCTU officially made their debut on April 9th, 2016 with their two debut singles ‘The 7th Sense’ and ‘WITHOUT YOU’. The first six member unit consisted of Taeil, Taeyong, Doyoung, Ten, Jaehyun and Mark.

NCTU made its return in the large-scale project  ‘NCT 2018 EMPATHY’ which had tracks featuring all the members of NCT that were active in 2018. After that they have the big project names “NCT 2020 Resonance” and “NCT 2021”

which added the new members name Sungchan and Shotaro.

NCT127

NCT’s first unit is based in a city, and as opposed to NCT U it is a fixed unit, meaning members do not rotate and the member line-up is constant. They are a Seoul-based team that now consists of ten members : Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, DoYoung, Jaehyun, WinWin, Jungwoo, Mark and Haechan. They  held their debut stage on July 7th, 2016

with their self titled mini album NCT #127 and their latest album is “Ay-Yo – The 4th Album Repackage”

NCT dream

The third subunit is a teenage-boy team that consists of seven members: Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle and Jisung.

They  held their debut stage on August 24, 2016 with the digital single “Chewing Gum” and still continue to work on the current album called Beatbox – The 2nd Album Repackage

WayV

The most recent sub-unit to debut was their China-based unit consisting solely of Chinese members: Kun, Ten, Winwin, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery and Yangyang.

On January 17, 2019 it was announced that the unit would be making their debut with the digital EP The Vision and still continue to work on the current album “Phantom”

Why are they famous?

Have you guys ever wondered if Why NCT is so popular all over the world when there are so many Korean boy bands that can be found in the K-pop industry?. Nowadays, physical appearance may not be the only thing that makes an idol known. The world has developed further and has become more ethnically diverse. That’s the main reason why NCT is famous all over the world, it’s because SM-entertainment came up with a concept for the artists in this boy band to have ethnic diversity. The members come from many different countries, languages and cultures. Their songs are also available in many languages such as Korean as the main language, Japanese, English and Chinese. In addition to the diversity of nationalities, what makes them popular is their unique melodies and rhythms which are more interesting and modern than any other K-Pop group.

Apart from singing and dancing, what makes them well known is their performances and photo shoots or will it be composing both melody and lyrics by themselves. Their immense talent attracts people and their diverse portfolio attracts people from a variety of channels. NCT format that shows each member’s development since their debut. For example, it’s obvious that NCTU and NCTDREAM where fans can see them from their youth to the present as they grow older and succeed, or the friendship the members have with each other since they started training. Path of success

At first, there were only 6 members in the band until it gradually increased to 23 members. In addition to the number of people increasing, there are also additional band units. As read above, there will be 3 main units, namely NCT127, NCTdream and WayV.

In the beginning, the band was not very well known. People are only interested in Korea or some Asian countries. Organizing an exhibition will be a small event that can contain only a certain number of people and there are only a few known members but with the release of new songs and new concepts, the band began to be known in Asia that is only known to a few countries has become all Asian countries, including starting to promote in European countries as well.

As soon as it started to gain attention, songs in English were added that could be heard and understood all over the world. It is the reason why the band is very famous in Europe. The album began to sell well and concerts were held overseas around Asia and Europe.

The group’s growth was swift, with their already best-selling album becoming the No. 1 best seller and breaking all other K-pop records for sales which is double and triple million sellers. The concert was also sold out within 2 minutes of the sale. Started touring concerts around the world and holding concerts in the largest venues in each country.

With the qualifications and abilities of the band members, such as composing their own songs or choreographing their own dances. Including the good-looking personalities of the members, so they began to have acting and photo shoots. They have become a brand Brand Name’s ambassador or have acted in movies until they are famous all over the world.Their popularity led the company to make music for each member to have their own solo song. That’s why they have their own fan base to increase even more.

Fans have made fan art to meet the needs of many fans who like artists and it shows how much they adore and love the artist. What’s more, the company also releases official merchandise that the artists have co-designed themselves for fans to purchase and collect.

NCT in Thailand

NCT members have a Thai artist, Ten, making NCT have been to Thailand quite a few times. Whether it’s the first time, it’s in Chiang Mai. They came to film the show and meet Thai fans for the first time. Later, he began to promote music in Thailand many times and filming programs more often. Including coming to play a concert that sells out tickets within 1 minute as well.
