BTS (Korean: 방탄소년단), also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a South Korean boy band that officially debuted in 2013 with the concept music combination of pop and hip hop genre. The group consists of seven members: RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. BTS has become one of the most popular and influential K-pop groups, with a massive fanbase known as the “ARMY.”
Pre-debut – BTS was formed in 2010, with RM being the first member to join and the company’s co-producer. The group was supposed to be a hip-hop group at first, but the concept was later changed to an idol group. Bang Si-hyuk (CEO of BigHit Entertainment) determined that today’s youth required “a hero who can lend them a shoulder to lean on, even without saying a single word,” and BTS was that hero. The lineup was finalized in 2012 with all seven members, and in the six months leading up to their official debut in 2013, BTS posted pre-debut songs and logs on YouTube and Soundcloud. That is the beginning of the BTS.
