The development of newspaper.

Newspapers have experienced several alterations over their history. Prior to the printing press, word of mouth was the major means of disseminating information. Long before people could write, humans communicated information. Furthermore, Newspapers have played a vital role in molding our political beliefs in recent history and have been an important part of society. The first newspapers were prohibitively expensive, and hence only a select few could afford to read them. The fast progress of the printing press lowered newspaper expenses and allowed for the production of many more copies at a reduced cost. Also, despite the fact that today’s newspapers and those from the past are similar in many aspects, newspapers and their content have evolved considerably throughout time.  Therefore, this essay will describe the development of newspapers from the past until the present.

To begin with, the modern newspaper was made feasible by technological advancements. Paper was often created until the late nineteenth century from textile fibers such as cotton and linen, which were typically sourced from discarded rags. Low-cost, low-quality paper became widely available only after the discovery of wood pulp paper. Paper became more affordable as the paper industry grew, allowing newspapers to be printed at a reasonable cost. Increased production was aided by industrialization and new worldwide markets, particularly in raw resources, resulting in low-cost, mass-produced paper. Subsequently, newspapers rose in size and frequency as the cost of paper and printing fell, and access to data from remote locations got faster and simpler. They progressed from sporadic broadsheets to regularly published almanacs, daily newspapers, and publications with many issues each day. The introduction of the Online as a mass communication channel in the last decade has also aided in the speeding up of the news cycle: certain items now emerge on online newspapers in numerous versions, written and rewritten throughout the day. A newspaper nowadays is much more than simply a piece of newsprint. Audiotex, blogs, pod casts, interactive, multi-media, video, collaborations with broadcasting, Audio, news archives, and email newsletters are among the many online versions of nation’s daily newspapers. As they diversify and converge to satisfy the growing expectations of a news and advertising customer, newspaper corporations are affiliating themselves with a variety of new media.

So, the publication has gone through several changes during its lengthy and complicated existence. It can conclude that the development of newspapers has grown significantly over several decades. It started from physical paper until the digital media.

Movie/Film

When we talk about movies or films in the media industry, these are very important and can receive a lot of advantages to the media industry. Moreover, movies and films can influence audiences and can reflect society in every means. There are various types of movies from the past until now such as action, comedy, drama, fantasy, horror, mystery, romance, and thriller. However, film and movies have been developed for every era as pioneer era (1815-1907), silent film era (1908-1928), sound film era (1928-1945), and the present (1965-now).

The pioneer era (1815-1907)

The filmmaker started creating the first camera’s film of the world “Kinetograph”, which is a camera’s film, and “Kinetoscope”, which is a film’s projector, in 1889.  However, it evolved to be “Cinematography”. The first film of the world was “Arrival of a Train (1895), it was a 50-second silent film and it was shot in Paris. However, when the film projected the train swooping toward the audience, many viewers were stunned because they thought it was real and unfamiliar with the new technology.

The Silent Film (1908-1927)

In this era, there was a high development of film art in the USA. Filmmakers begin to think about the audience’s feelings by having composition in the film so important, such as slow and fast editing, that can convey the feeling and mood of the movie. Moreover, it was the beginning of popular actors and actresses and the budgets were very high such as Charlie Chaplin, and Mary Pickford.

Hollywood became the center of the film industry because capitalists had lots of money to produce. There were many studios such as Universal Picture Company and Paramount Pictures. Nanook of the North was a movie that made a huge profit in the USA.

Sound Film Era (1927-1945)

The filmmakers tried to find the method that they could record the voice in the movie. At the first time, there was a picture and sound which mixed with a conversation voice, there was no movement between the actor and actress. It was “The Jazz Singer”. On 6 Oct 1927, people were looking forward to watching this film because it was the first sound film of the world and it was very successful.

The present (1945-now)

The film industry tended to be nationalism until 1965 and then it changed to more internationalism. We can see that everybody can be an actor and actress no matter what nationality. For example, the director is American, bring the actor from the United States or German, they can work together. It’s like the wall of nationality was damaged. Moreover, films in the present have high evolution like every year, they can create something that people can not predict such as Gemini Man. They use visual effects that can reduce the age of the actor. The viewers very surprise with this film.

In the nutshell, we are in some kind of era that includes media as a necessary thing for living our lives such as news, movie, music, film, or other entertainment things that all of these things unknowingly permeated our lives. We cannot recognize how all of these become part of you but they are always improving themselves for being the greatest, for instance, newspaper which is a communication medium that transform themselves into an online platform to survive themselves due to the growth of world that most of people turn to using online platform so this is an example how medias develop themselves.
